GET Climatology Summary

Look up typical daily weather statistics at one or more locations. This endpoint first calculates each day's high, low, precipitation total, and wind statistics in local standard time for each year in the selected ERA5 period, then averages those daily statistics across years. This preserves the typical daily range.

Use this for questions such as “What's a typical daily high and low?” For the average at a particular hour, use Climatology, which averages each hour across years rather than calculating each year's daily statistics first.

Query parameters

Request one date or an inclusive date range. A range returns daily rows by default and can be grouped into weeks, months, or one period. Dates run from midnight to midnight at each coordinate's fixed standard UTC offset, without daylight saving time. The requested year selects calendar dates, not observations from that year: September 28, 2027 with the 2016–2025 normal uses September 28 data from those ten years.

Response parameters

climatology_summaries contains one array per coordinate, in request order. Each row covers the dates shown in its start_date and end_date . For a group of days, temperature, dewpoint, and wind values average the daily normals; precipitation adds them. A missing daily value makes the corresponding group value null. If any day's precipitation is missing, both the total and daily average precipitation for that group are null.
