GET Event

Return events of the requested type for one model initialization, including each event's summary and geometries. Atmospheric rivers, heatwaves, and coldwaves have polygon footprints and severity regions; fronts have line geometries. Path parameters

Name	Description
event_type Required	atmospheric_river, heatwave, coldwave, or front. The front type includes cold, warm, stationary, and occluded fronts.

Response formats

json returns events keyed by ID using the fields below. geojson returns one flat FeatureCollection containing each event's geometries. With include_details=true , it also includes the forecast-hour geometries. See Event Detail for the Feature fields.

JSON response

Field	Type	Description
model	string	Model whose forecast output was used.
event_type	string	Requested event type, shared by all returned events.
init_time	string	Selected initialization, in ISO 8601 UTC.
forecast_zero	string	Valid time of FH0 for this run; can differ from init_time.
events	object	Keyed by event_id. Each entry contains event_id, start_time, end_time, lineage, summary, geometries, and forecast_hours. Geometry and forecast-hour fields follow Event Detail; forecast_hours is populated when include_details=true.
lineage	object	Parent and child event IDs within this initialization. See Event Detail.
summary	object	Identical to geometries[0].properties.summary. Polygon events include peak severity, centers, areas, and event-specific metrics; fronts include classifications and max_length_km.
total	integer	Number of weather events returned. In GeoJSON this counts events, not Features.
